Detonation is a melodic death metalband from Zeist, the Netherlands,
originally formed as Infernal Dream in 1997 by Koen Romeijn (vocals,
guitar), Thomas Kalksma (drums), Mike Ferguson (guitar) and joined
later by Otto Schimmelpenninck van der Oije (Bass).

After the 1st EP "Lost Euphoria" (2000), four full-length albums were
released worldwide, namely "An Epic Defiance" (Osmose Prod. 2003),
"Portals to Uphobia" (Osmose Prod. 2005), "Emission Phase" (Osmose
Prod. 2007) and most recently "Reprisal" (2011), albums that led to
quite some exposure and global touring, especially during the years
2002-2008.

Officially, Detonation is still an active band, although numerous side
projects and bands committed Detonation’s members to busy touring
schedules and other band activities.

Nowadays, Mike and Koen are officially the only 2 remaining members
of Detonation from the first line-up, together with new forces Matthieu
Boer (Drums) and Auke Visser (Bass). Plans are here to perhaps create
and release one last Detonation album. The future is yet to be written...

II: A Material God

A Material God is more of everything that Wesenwille offered on its already-impressive debut effort, but the most endearing aspect of this album is that the band is finding its own voice. This is no longer an “homage” to Deathspell Omega, but a fully-realised dissonant black métal statement in its own right.
