A Material God is more of everything that Wesenwille offered on its already-impressive debut effort, but the most endearing aspect of this album is that the band is finding its own voice. This is no longer an “homage” to Deathspell Omega, but a fully-realised dissonant black métal statement in its own right. Wesenwille is drawing outside of the lines here, and the result is more than solid. At this rate of growth, there is no telling what wondrous works will come our way!
